Who do I contact about (fill in the blank issue)?

Why aren't the event start times posted yet? When will they be posted?

If we wait until after the regular registration deadline, we have a general idea of how many fencers are attending. This information allows us to determine to the best of our ability what the actual start times will be at the tournament. This also helps us gauge how many referees we will need to bring in and keeps you from standing around forever after check-in has closed. This year the start times will be posted ASAP after February 2nd, 2008.

I pre-registered on askFRED but I don't see my name on the pre-registration list! I received a confirmation email from askFRED. Why am I not yet listed?

There may be several reasons for this. askFRED automatically sends a confirmation email saying "Thank you for pre-registering..." This does not mean you have completed pre-registration. There are three parts to the pre-registration process:

(1) You fill out pre-registration form on askFRED (checking events, rating, club, etc.).
(2) We receive your payment (either a credit card online through FRED or a check by mail).
(3) Your USFA membership is confirmed by the bout committee or you have been notified that you will need to obtain USFA membership (it will be available at the door, but we strongly encourage you to join beforehand). You should receive a second email when this has been completed.
When all of these have been completed, you should be showing up on the pre-registration list on askFRED.

If you are still not there, either you were the wrong age/sex for the event, or your payment has not been received (credit card did not go through, etc.).

How old do I have to be to compete in (fill in the blank event)?

In general, for the open events a fencer must have a birth year of 1994 or earlier. For exceptions, see the 2007-2008 Age Requirements. For open veteran events, a fencer must have a birth year of 1967 or earlier. Contact the Bout Committee below if you have an eligibility question.
